Metallurgist Lab Technician

Based in Macomb, MI, Triumph employs approximately 300 personnel. The Company's key products and services include manufacturing, test and assembly of complete transmission and gearbox assemblies as well as complex gears and housing. Our design engineering group can specify and design any gear application, from simple build-to-print to collaboratively engineered, highly specialize applications.
The Metallurgy Technician reports directly to the Metallurgy Manager. Conduct hardness testing using HRC, HRA, superficial scales, Brinell hardness tester, portable testers and micro-hardness testing using Vickers and Knoop scales. Conduct dimensional checks and analysis for anticipated finish carburized case depth determination. Conduct analysis of microstructure for Grain flow, IGO, and de-carb. Examines and tests metal samples to determine properties and characteristics. Cut, mount and polish samples. Use appropriate cutting devices including large cut-off saws, surface grinder, mill band saws and sectioning saws. Label and maintain samples from receipt of job. Maintain and operate testing equipment used to conduct sample preparation and testing. Maintain a clean work area and lab equipment. Complete work assignments on scheduled due dates and keep supervisor and other members of management informed of problems that affect work flow. Interface with coworkers on a regular basis to ensure highest level of customer satisfaction is maintained. Prepare well written data sheets and reports as needed. Consult with the Metallurgy Manager and engineers on metallurgical test methods as necessary to ensure quality preparation of work and process. Work and coordinate with other departments to ensure data is timely and available for inclusion in reports.

Associates degree in metallurgy.
A minimum of two year lab training or 2 years of experience directly related to meet metallurgical lab requirements for performing the technical functions of a lab technician.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
