Job Description

 Summary of Position

Responsible for fitting and welding of steel, aluminum and Invar 36 parts using a MIG and/or TIG process.


Essential Functions

o Set up welding machines based on the specifications of the job

o Read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements

o MIG and/or TIG weld steel, aluminum and Invar 36 components based on the specifications of the blueprints and/or drawings

o Repair broken or damaged parts.

o Fabricate and revise fixtures, jigs, gauges, hand applies and special tooling and components

o Keep work area clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities

o Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency

o Other duties as assigned by management


Required Education & Experience

o Completion of a one year certificate program in welding from a college or technical school; or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

o Experience with Steel, aluminum and/or Invar 36

o Experience with MIG and TIG welding strongly preferred

o This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22.C.F.R. is required.


Required Competencies

o Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses

o Knowledge of welding rods and proper usages

o Ability to read blueprints, drawings, calipers and tape measures

o Knowledge of welding techniques

o Knowledge of fabricating techniques

o Safety, housekeeping and good manufacturing practices

o Ability to identify and find specifications

o Ability to do basic math including but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, conversions of fractions and decimals.

o Attention to detail.

o Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.

o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

o Ability to think independently and problem solve.

  • Must be able to weld steel and/or invar vertically groves and fillets

  • Able to weld vertically with aluminum

o While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles

o The employee may be exposed to vibration

o The employee is occasionally exposed to caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

o May be required to work weekends to meet department and business demands

o Work with safe manufacturing processes and understand that eyewear is mandatory in the manufacturing area.

o Knows that safety shoes are recommended in the manufacturing area
